After moving to Boston, she worked as a HIV/AIDS nurse case manager, nurse supervisor of an immunization program, and a clinical informatics specialist. During this time she received her BSN (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and her MSN from Walden University. She went onto doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) in nursing informatics. One year into her studies she was awarded the Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship from the UWM Graduate School. This opportunity allowed her to re-locate to Milwaukee to continue her studies and accept a position as a Nursing Informatics Research Scientist at Aurora Health Care in the Knowledge-Based Nursing Department.
