Jessie Reich is the recipient of the 2016 “American Journal of Nursing Scholarship.” Jessie received both her BSN and MSN degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her graduate area of study was Health Administration. In addition she received a specialty certification in Human Resource Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

After completion of her MSN, Jessie attended LaSalle University and received her adult nurse practitioner post masters degree. She is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Villanova University and will be doing her doctoral research on the relationship between clinical nurses and adolescent patients with sickle cell disease. Jessie was drawn to this particular specialty area because, as a clinical nurse educator she recognized the need to care for this patient population in a more nurturing and purposeful way to ultimately improve patient outcomes.

In her current role as a Professional Practice Consultant at Pennsylvania Hospital-Penn Medicine, Jessie is able to work with multiple inter-professional colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes are achieved. Jessie plans to utilize the NEF funds to assist with her tuition and ultimately improve the care of adolescent patients with sickle cell disease; an often times underserved patient population.
