Winner of the M. Elizabeth Carnegie scholarship is native Californian Ifeyinwa Asiodu, a nurse since 2003. Ifeyinwa received her Bachelor’s degree from USC. After attending a Summer Research Training Program at UCSF in 2006 she decided the School of Nursing there was the place for her and matriculated into the Master’s program, transitioning onto the Doctoral program in 2008. She is also currently working as a PHN with the Prenatal Advantage Black Infant Health Project. Through her program of research, Ifeyinwa plans to raise awareness of the importance of infant feeding methods of African American mothers while empowering young women of color to make healthier and more responsible infant feeding choices.
