Prior to joining Augusta University, Courtney was a Senior Clinical Strategist for the Cerner Corporation. Before joining Cerner, Courtney was part of the Clinical Content Knowledge Management team as a Clinical Content Manager at MedStar Health in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. In this role, she provided leadership and direction to the development of interdisciplinary care planning with evidence-based practice and change management in the electronic health record. In this role, she translated clinical requirements into technical requirements for mobile health application development. Her informatics training has provided exposure to information systems, information science and data analysis. As a DNP student, these skill sets, in addition to new skills learned in the DNP curriculum, will allow Courtney to make an impact on population health using data from an EHR. Her DNP project is a DNP Quality Improvement Toolkit to guide best practice for doctoral nurse students at a hospital affiliated university to access and manage EHR data in quality improvement initiatives.

Courtney has also co-taught at Augusta University, College of Nursing since relocating to Georgia and recently took a part-time position as Assistant Professor. She co-teaches Management of Health Information Systems in their DNP curriculum and Immersion in Primary Care Nursing to pre-licensure nursing students as part of the HRSA ReCAP Clinical Partnership grant.
