In August 2024 the "Columbia University – Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Inc./Penny Hund West" Scholarship was established. This is the second Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Inc. Scholarship donated to Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. In 2006 the first Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Inc. Scholarship was established honoring J. Margaret Ada Mutch. Both of these permanent scholarships will give preference to a Columbia University School of Nursing student or alumnus.
A second new NEF Scholarship was established in October 2024 by Regina Conroy-Keller in honor of her late mother, Joan L. Conroy, who was a nurse. This scholarship will be awarded to either master's or doctoral prepared nurses specializing in Nursing Education.
The third permanent NEF Scholarship was established by the Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, New York Alumnae Association in October 2024 named in honor of Edith G. Ryan who was a graduate of the Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing class of 1916. All of the above three scholarships will be awarded to exceptional graduate nurses in May 2025.

NEF’s only purpose is to provide nursing scholarship assistance to make graduate level nursing education possible. NEF is one of the largest, national, private, professionally endorsed source of funds for advanced nursing study with over one hundred years of service to and for professional nursing.
NEF’s Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from nursing, education, technology, and business communities. Members donate their time and talent to the advancement of the nursing profession. NEF operates with exceptionally low overhead. NEF employs only one individual who serves in several capacities.
